Baker Pool & Spa, a Portable Spas dealer selling new and used hot tubs in the greater St. Louis area publishes 3 Ways to Get a Better Night’s Sleep.

“March is Sleep Awareness Month, a time for people to focus on the benefits of getting a good night’s sleep and find ways to improve on their habits to sleep better,” said John McCormick of Baker Pool & Spa. Here are three ways to get a better night’s sleep

Create a Comforting Pre-Bedtime Ritual – There are several things people can do to relax and wind down before getting to bed. Adding a hot tub to the backyard is a great way to change the entire atmosphere of the home and give everyone there a place to calm down and relax after a long day at work or school.

Portable spas have multiple benefits that help promote good sleep. Soothing heat from a controlled thermostat that doesn’t require a lot of messing around to keep it at the right temperature make it fun to take long, evening soaks. The strong massage jets work out tension and anxiety and relax the entire body.

No Heavy Meals at Night – Eating heavy meals in the evening put the body’s focus on digestion, not sleep. It also fuels the body up and gives it energy. That’s a nice thing to have, but not in the couple hours before trying to get to sleep. Shift the heavier meals to breakfast or lunch and eat a light dinner. If a snack is really necessary, make it something light that won’t charge up the body’s energy levels or keep it working to break down while trying to get to sleep.

Reduce Caffeine Before Bed – Caffeine is a stimulant. Most people wouldn’t argue that fact. It really doesn’t make sense to ingest stimulants right before trying to get to sleep, but an alarming number of people do just that. Coffee is the most commonly associated product when it comes to caffeine, but tea, soda, candy, ice cream, hot chocolate and even protein bars can contain caffeine. Even decaf coffee and tea has some residual caffeine in it.

To encourage people to check out the benefits of owning their own hot tub, Baker Pool & Spa will be providing free test soaks for local residents all month long. They do recommend, however, that people wanting to schedule their free 30-minute soak call the company ahead of time to reserve their spot.
